One month shy of 11 years ago, my husband and I stepped off an airplane in Christchurch, New Zealand and embraced a new city, a new country, a new people and a new life.

On Tuesday, 22 February, a devastating earthquake struck Christchurch, New Zealand.  This is New Zealand’s second-largest city and the quake struck at lunchtime, when the city center was full of workers, shoppers and tourists.

As a former resident of Christchurch my heart is broken to see the devastation in the city.  I feel for the families who have lost a loved one, as well as for those faced with the monumental task of getting the city back on its feet and rebuilt.  Tuesday’s disaster was the worst in a series of quakes and aftershocks to hit Christrchurch since 4 Septemeber last year.

 

In an effort to help, I have set up an alt, GardenCityRelief Resident, to which you are welcome to donate and will be donating 100% of all sales of Puarangi Designs products until 31 March to the New Zealand Red Cross.   If you are uncomfortable with donating through an alt avatar, there are other ways in which you are welcome to help.  Check out the following blogs/web sites for more information:

Happy Holly-Days Hunt, Peace on Earth Hunt and Twisted Krissmuss

For the Happy Holly-Days Hunt, I’ve hidden a nice big box of Christmassy earrings in my little bit of holly and I created a set of Byzantine & Loops bracelets for the Peace on Earth Hunt.

The Twisted Krissmuss event isn’t a hunt it’s a special offer of a new item that would regularly sell for a higher price in the store, but is set at L$100 and transferrable to make it more appealling for gift-giving.  I created the Vezenia Necklace and Earrings set, which is texturing-changing, which 6 gem options to choose from.

The Happy Holly-Days Hunt is on now and runs until December 5th.  The Peace on Earth Hunt runs December 1, 2010 to January 3, 2011 and the Twisted Krissmuss event is on from December 4 – 30!  You’ll find everything in Puarangi Designs Jewellery Main Store during the indicated dates. Christmas is Coming at Puarangi Designs!!

Get some hot chocolate, sit back and relax while I tell you about all the goodies you’ll find at Puarangi Designs this Christmas Season.

First of all, there is a lovely new texture-changing rose hairband to compliment the Kathryn style from Analog Dog Hair. You get 9 different rose textures to choose from and this is the first item using my new texture-changing HUD (included).  Of course, you still have the option to change textures ‘on touch’, as well.

A new, fun addition to the store is a Scratch Card vendor.  Once you’ve purchased a card, you wear it, scratch it and hopefully win one of the great prizes you can find on the wall behind the vendor.

Halloween Gacha!!

I put together a fun little gacha for Halloween.  Inside are some mouthies… Halloween Peeps (those lovely marshmallow treats).. in the shape of a cat, a bat, a ghost and a Jack O’Latern, as well as a mini carmel apple and mini candy apple.  All of them dispense a little Halloween riddle on touch.  An added bonus is the Mystery Gift… a piece of Halloween jewelry.  Lots of fun for just L$10!!! Welcome to the second part of What’s New at Puarangi Designs Jewellery at the moment.  In the lead up to the 2010 Jewelry Fair, I added several new items to the store including:

Orchids in Amphora necklace and earring sets in gold or silver

with six different orchids to choose from.

AFat Pack of Hibiscus Hair Flowers (also availably in singles) or…
